The great thing about transferable skills is that they are transportable. As such, even though you acquired them in one area or field, they are applicable to many others. For example, as a student you acquire critical thinking, time management and organizational skills. Another example is for role in customer service, one acquires essential interpersonal skills such as listening and dealing with conflict. So if you are a recent graduate with little work experience, or are looking at pursuing a career in a field that feels out of your comfort zone, do not fear! Chances are you have many transferable skills valued by employers. If we fail to recognize our own worth and transferable skills, this can lead to selling ourselves short.
