The Brantford Food Bank announced that we have exceeded our Thanks-4-Giving Food Drive goal, raising 31,879 pounds of food donations. Fresh, frozen and non-perishable food was generously donated by the local community through individual, corporate and community group contributions and food drives.
The food raised during the food drive will assist the Food Bank in providing emergency food assistance to an average of 2,800 individuals, including singles, families, children and seniors, each month. Unfortunately, the need continues, and the Food Bank relies on regular monthly donations to ensure that no one goes hungry in the community throughout the year.
Regular donations to the Brantford Food Bank help Food Bank clients as well as offering support to 27 other local food providers that operate local meal programs and food cupboards. Nonperishable items that are most needed include: canned pasta and stews, canned fruit, vegetables and tomatoes, canned meat (tuna, chicken, etc.), pork and beans, and peanut butter. Non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at the Food Bank or most local grocery stores.
Fresh and frozen food donations, such as fresh produce, graded eggs and dairy products, or fresh and frozen meat, can be dropped off at the Brantford Food Bank at 1100 Clarence Street South, Monday through Friday, between 8:30-11:45am and 12:45-4:30pm.
