The Brantford Food Bank has started its 2018 Thanks4Giving Municipal Food Drive, with a goal of receiving 30,000 pounds of food during the month of October.
“The need for our services continues to be high, with an average of 1,000 – 1,100 households using the service each month,” says Heather Vanner, Executive Director. “We have a generous community that can help make a difference in the lives of the people needing food support. Donations to the Food Bank help local residents who are coming to us for help.”
Donations of non-perishable canned items most needed include: canned soups, canned vegetables and fruit, peanut butter, dry pasta and rice, cereal, canned pasta, beans, tuna, and stews. Baby food and formula are also needed.
Fresh product donations can include fresh vegetables, fruit, dairy and protein products.
Donations of non- perishable food can be made at local grocery stores and at the Food Bank. Fresh food items can be dropped off Monday to Friday, from 8:30 – 4:30 at the Food Bank, located at 106-1100 Clarence St. South, Brantford.
If you, your business, or your work place is interested in hosting a Food Drive through the month of October, please contact the Food Bank at 519-751-4357 to register.
The Brantford Food Bank offers an Emergency Food Program and provides people with 2-3 day supply of food, once per month. It also operates the Community Distribution Warehouse that supports 26 other community food and meal programs.
