My name is Ashley Singleton and I’m the Community Food Procurement Co-ordinator at the Brantford Food Bank. I’ve been working with this organization since 2010 and I am extremely passionate about increasing access of food for those who need it most. I pursue this passion by working with many local businesses in our community, encouraging them to donate food to our Food Bank whether it’s fresh, frozen, or non-perishable. In the summer you’ll see me on the road doing one of my favourite things; the Mobile Market, which brings healthy, fresh produce to those who need it most.
Along with my roles at the Food Bank I’m also the co-chair of the Brant Food System Coalition, a local group working toward food security and sustainability for Brantford and Brant. I am also a member of Equal Ground Community Gardens who helps co-ordinate and maintain the growing amount of community gardens we have here in the City.
I am a Brantford girl. I grew up here and even pursued my university education at our very own Laurier Brantford, graduating with an Honours BA in Sociology and Contemporary Studies. Now I continue to live here with my wonderful husband, Lucas.
