It’s Not Too Late to Go Back to School, Mom

“It has been a struggle. I am 31 years old, and I’ve never had a job in my life. I left school when I finished grade 9 as I was pregnant with my first child. The years seemed to float by and I now have 3 beautiful children. But, I lack my high school education and a job. I didn’t know where to start to get my life on the track that I’d always dreamed about. A friend referred me to CES for some guidance. Through meetings, soul searching and labour market information with the Employment Specialists there, I came to the conclusion that I did need to upgrade in order to achieve the rest of my goals that I set out. I am currently enrolled in school working my way to my Grade 12 diploma in order to see where college takes me. Going back to school is stressful, but we also discussed volunteer work so that I can build a resume in order to obtain employment. I’m excited for what the future holds!”
