“I was hoping to hold onto my job as the company was downsizing. Unfortunately, I was not one of the lucky ones. In mid-October I lost my job of ten years. My kids just started grades 3 and 5; how was I going to explain to them that Santa wasn’t going to visit us this year? One of my old colleagues, who was in a similar situation, mentioned the Brantford Food Bank’s Christmas Baskets program. The Christmas Baskets program gave me hope, and I was so grateful for my community. I cannot wait to see my kids’ faces on Christmas morning when they see their toys and get to enjoy a beautiful Christmas dinner. I haven’t felt this happy in a long time.” -Theresa*, single mom of two, Brantford *name has been changed for privacy
Each year in our community, there are parents like Theresa, who find it difficult to provide a Christmas celebration for their children. The Brantford Food Bank is committed to providing community support to people in need. Funds raised here, stay here, providing much need support to local individuals and families. The people in your community who use our programs and services do not have the chance to thank you personally, so on their behalf we would like to say Thank you!
During the holiday season the Brantford Food Bank could not be more appreciative of the support that the community provides in both continued donations to the Food Bank and donations to our Christmas Baskets program. Donations directed to the Food Bank support individuals, families, seniors and children throughout the entire year. And donations to the Christmas Baskets program help to achieve its goal of ensuring that no child goes without a toy at Christmas and no family without a Christmas dinner.
During this Holiday season help is continue to make an impact to your community and please consider supporting the Food Bank. Together, we can make a difference by providing help and hope this season.
