In schools it is common practice to have a peanut free environment to ensure that those who have a food allergy can enjoy their lunch in a safe space.
The most common food allergies include eggs, milk, peanut butter, wheat and seafood. Many people also require a low sodium diet.
At the Food Bank we accommodate clients that have food allergies, however the amount of available gluten free, peanut free, low sodium, etc. food is not always on hand due to low donations of those food products.
We appreciate all of the donations that come to the Food Bank and we would like to ensure that all clients are able to receive food that suits their health needs. When shopping for items to donate remember to think about picking the low sodium soups or the gluten free crackers. Any little contribution will go a long way.
